What's the difference between a page you audit and a page you optimize?

An audit crawls up to 100 pages and scores every one of them. The Agent Layer publishes optimized versions of 10 of them on the base plan. Having a broader scope for audits helps you determine how much optimization capacity you need/want. You get the insight before having to purchase any Page Packs.

How do the capacity add-ons work?

There are two kinds, and you can add or remove them at any time from your billing settings. Extra Site: enables you to publish an Agent Layer on another website, which carries its own 10-page allowance for optimization, plus 2 more team seats for your workspace. Adds $12/month to your bill (or $120/yr on annual plans). Page Pack: enables you to add 30 more optimized pages to a site of your choosing. Each pack must be dedicated to one site (you can't spread them across domains). Adds $10/month to your bill (or $100/yr on annual plans). Either kind also adds 25 more site audits to your monthly allowance.

How many sites and pages can one Optimize account hold?

Accepted Answer

Up to 25 published sites, and up to 310 optimized pages on any single site (base site allowance + 10 Page Packs). You can buy packs for every site you own, so the account-wide total scales with the number of sites. The 10-pack limit applies per site, not to your account. If you need more than that on one site, or more than 25 sites, be sure to reach out about our Scale plan. But don't feel like you have to wait until that point to do so.

I bought a Page Pack. How do I give it to a specific site?

Packs are bought as a pool for your account and then assigned to individual sites. You assign them on the site's dedicated page in the dashboard, and the billing tab shows how many of your pool are still unassigned. A newly-bought pack sits unassigned until you place it. A site's allocation can be changed once per calendar month. Moving packs around changes which pages get published (so the limit keeps that from churning week to week), but you can always assign new packs straight away.

What exactly is an Agent Layer?

A clean, machine-readable mirror of your site, generated from your real pages. It's four kinds of file types: llms.txt: a front-door summary of what your site is and which pages matter pages/*.md: a stripped-down markdown version of each optimized page, with no navigation, no scripts, and no layout to wade through structured/*.jsonld: the facts on each page labeled in schema.org terms an agent already understands .well-known/agent.json: a table of contents tying it all together

Does ReadyLayer change my website?

Accepted Answer

No. Your site is never edited, rewritten, or proxied. The Agent Layer is generated separately and lives alongside your site. Your pages keep serving exactly the HTML they serve today. The only thing that goes on your site is a single script tag (the same as other services), and all it does is point agents to your Agent Layer that ReadyLayer produces. Remove the tag and you're back to where you started, with nothing to unwind.

How do AI agents actually find the layer?

Two ways that work together: First, the layer is published at the locations agents already check (similar to how search engine crawlers specifically look for robots.txt). An agent that goes looking finds it without being told. Second, the script tag signposts it from the pages themselves. On each page it adds that page's structured data inline, plus link tags pointing to the plain-text and manifest versions, so an agent that arrives at any single page can follow the trail rather than having to guess.

Will the script tag slow my site down?

It's 2.4 KB gzipped and loads with defer, so it never blocks parsing or rendering. The browser gets to your content first and runs the tag afterwards. There's no npm package, no build step, and no framework integration. It sets no cookies and writes nothing to local storage. It's one plain tag in your head, and it works the same whether your site is hand-written HTML or a modern framework.

What happens when I change my website?

Keep publishing to your site the way you normally do. When you're ready for the layer to catch up, run another audit and regenerate your Agent Layer. The layer is then automatically rebuilt from your updated pages and goes live simultaneously. The same script tag keeps working indefinitely. Monitoring can also re-check the site on a schedule and tell you when something drifts. This may happen if you forget to regenerate a new Agent Layer after a site update, or if ReadyLayer has released updates to account for changes to AI crawler behavior.

Is ReadyLayer just an AI wrapper?

No, all of ReadyLayer's code is deterministic and there are no AI-driven features. We know what to look for.

Does the Agent Layer lower the SEO quality of my site?

Accepted Answer

No, your site isn't impacted at all. If you directly fix some of the issues that an Agent Layer can't resolve for you, those things can only help your SEO (because the whole point is to leverage best practices for crawlers... and search engines are just another type of crawler).

Does my Agent Layer work on pages hidden behind a login?

No, it can't reach those but neither can AI agents, so you're not missing out on any benefit.

What does setup involve, and do I need a developer?

1. Add your domain to your ReadyLayer dashboard. 2. Run a site audit. 3. Paste a unique script tag into your site's <head> section. 4. Generate an Agent Layer. The dashboard walks you through these four steps. The script tag is how ReadyLayer confirms you control the site, so the Agent Layer can't be created until that step is completed.

Do I need to verify ownership or add a DNS record?

No DNS changes are required. You can add a domain and run a full audit immediately, as it only reads pages that are already public. Publishing an Agent Layer requires the script tag installation because that's the point at which we need to ensure you control the site.

Does running an audit require anything installed on my site?

Accepted Answer

Nothing at all. The audit works entirely from the outside, the same way any crawler would. We look at any sitemap info and then start following links around your website to ensure we capture everything, all while respecting your robots.txt. Pages are analyzed one at a time so that an audit is a light touch on your server/host. A 100-page audit typically takes a few minutes, and the dashboard shows progress page by page while it runs.

Does this work if my site is a JavaScript app?

Yes, ReadyLayer fetches a page once as raw HTML, then again in a real headless browser after JavaScript has run. This helps define the gap between what a human visitor sees and what an agent sees. Your Agent Layer is generated from the fully-rendered version, so content that would otherwise be missing from an agent's view gets injected into the Agent Layer and will then be consumable going forward.

How is the Agent Readiness Score calculated?

ReadyLayer checks 35 aspects across eight categories for every page. These checks cover things like structure, metadata, schema markup, JavaScript dependence, link quality, accessibility, content depth, and crawlability. The result is a score out of 100 and a corresponding letter grade from A to F. It's a weighted average that considers severity, in a way that ensures minor warnings don't tank the score disproportionately. If a particular check does not apply to a page, it's left out of the calculation altogether. This way, simpler pages are only scored against the components that are actually present.

What does "auto-fixable" mean, and what is the "With ReadyLayer" score?

Over half of the validations cover things our Agent Layer can resolve on your behalf: structured data, page-level metadata, and machine-readable content for pages that otherwise depend on JavaScript. Those are the things marked as "auto-fixable" in your audits. The "With ReadyLayer" number is your score recalculated with exactly those issues resolved and nothing else.  It is meant to transparently convey the scope of what the tool will automatically resolve with your site's Agent Layer activated. That way you can foresee the actual lift before making any decisions. The issues that ReadyLayer can't automatically address are declared with specific evidence and guidance on how to improve or resolve them.

Do you inflate the score to make the product look good?

Nope. You can easily see which issues we're counting as significant and which are less impactful (which correlates directly to the score). And we don't automatically count anything as fixed just because you have an active Agent Layer. The audit objectively analyzes the agentic experience the same way whether an Agent Layer is present or not, so an increase in score means the layer is working. This is partially why the pricing model is so modular. You may only have a handful of key pages that are worth optimizing with ReadyLayer.

How do I know AI agents are actually using it?

ReadyLayer counts AI bot traffic and shows those stats in your dashboard. This of course is not full proof that they're using your Agent Layer, but those quantities can be a directional indicator that LLMs are successfully engaging with your site. There are well-documented standards about how bot traffic operates, and ReadyLayer leverages the nuances of those processes to ensure your Agent Layer is being utilized.

What does monitoring actually watch for?

You can use monitoring to have a site re-analyzed daily or weekly, and each run is compared against the last one. Changes will primarily happen when you edit your site and don't refresh your Agent Layer, or when ReadyLayer releases updates to account for new or changing agentic behavior. Alerts will appear in your dashboard when something meaningfully changes: A score regression: a drop of more than 10 points, flagged as critical past 20 A new critical issue appearing on a page that didn't have one A schema break: structured data that was working and has stopped

Can I export or share the results?

Yes. Any audit can be exported as a PDF report suitable for handing to a client or a stakeholder, and the underlying data (issues, pages, and score history) exports as CSV if you'd rather work with it yourself. Single-page scan results also get a shareable link with a preview image, which may be an easier way to show someone quickly.

Can I try it before I pay?

That's essentially what the free URL scan and free (limited) site audit are for, and is why those mechanisms include a calculation of the specific impact that ReadyLayer will provide. Anyone can scan a single page from our homepage with no signup. By creating a free account you can also run a full-site scan that will pull up to 25 pages, giving you a fuller preview of your site score and a page-by-page breakdown of the analysis. That scan refreshes every 90 days, so you can come back and see what has changed.

Should I pay monthly or yearly, and can I cancel?

Annual is $200 a year against $20 a month — about 17% off, or two months free. Add-ons follow whichever cadence your plan is on. You can cancel yourself at any time from the billing settings page in the dashboard. If you cancel, your plan stays active through the end of the period you've already paid for.

What happens if I add or remove capacity mid-month?

Add-ons can be edited at any time from your billing settings, and the change takes effect immediately. The cost difference is prorated on your next invoice so that 1) you're not paying a full cycle for, say, a few days of extra capacity, and 2) everything's always on one invoice. Adding capacity is instant. If you reduce it, any Page Packs you've assigned are released automatically, so your stated account capacity quantities always reflect what you're actually paying for.

Can I add my team?

The base Optimize plan includes 5 seats, and every Extra Site add-on you hold raises that by 2. Invite people by email address from your workspace settings and they'll join your workspace directly. Users with an existing ReadyLayer account are added straight away, while users who require signup will land there the first time they sign in. Team members can be owners, admins, or members. Billing and team management are restricted to owners and admins.

When do my monthly audit and scan limits reset?
